Mobile Towers Can Now Be Installed on Any House; National Assembly Passes New Bill

(Digital Itla) Mobile towers can now be installed on any house, as the National Assembly has passed a new bill. Licensed mobile phone and telecommunication companies will be permitted to lay optical fiber wherever required. The National Assembly passed the Pakistan Telecommunication Reorganization Amendment Bill, which will now be presented in the Senate.

According to the amendatory bill, private property owners and public institutions will be legally bound to provide space for telecommunication infrastructure. Any private house owner, tenant, or public/private institution refusing to provide space for laying optical fiber or installing a mobile tower will face a fine of 50 million rupees.
