US and Iran Sign Ceasefire Agreement Ahead of Schedule

(Digital Itla) According to the prominent American journal Axios, the United States and Iran have electronically signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to end hostilities and restore operations in the Strait of Hormuz ahead of schedule, officially putting the agreement into effect. Confirming this development, US and Iranian officials stated that the presidents of both nations signed the final text of the agreement, triggering immediate steps to de-escalate regional tensions and normalize maritime traffic.

According to diplomatic sources, the agreement was originally scheduled to be signed in Switzerland on Friday. However, keeping in mind the sensitivity of the situation and the urgent need to restore traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, both parties completed all formalities ahead of time. Sources stated that an consensus on making the Strait of Hormuz functional already existed between the two nations, which is why early implementation was prioritized. Detailed consultations were also held regarding the publication of the text and diplomatic protocols.

 

The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the final text of the MoU has been approved and electronically signed by both presidents. The spokesperson added that diplomatic contacts and negotiating activities will continue in Geneva, and a final decision regarding the expected meeting in Switzerland will be revealed soon. On the other hand, senior White House officials also ratified the agreement, stating that President Donald Trump has signed the memorandum, and the focus is now on ensuring regional stability and a permanent end to tensions.
