TikToker Ayesha Gulmina Murder: Police Arrest One Suspect, Search for Others Underway

TAXILA, Aug. 18, 2026: Police in Rawalpindi have claimed to have arrested one nominated suspect and detained three alleged facilitators in connection with the killing of TikToker Shamsu, also known as Ayesha Gulmina.

Shamsu Bibi was shot dead on August 14 in the jurisdiction of Taxila Police Station. According to the FIR registered on the complaint of her father, she had been active on TikTok for the past three to four years and had around 1.3 million followers.

Sub-Inspector Muhammad Fayyaz, the investigation officer, told BBC Urdu that one suspect named in the FIR had been arrested. The suspect is accused of calling Shamsu and asking her to leave her home shortly before the attack.

Police are conducting raids to arrest two other suspects named in the case. According to the investigation officer, the suspects are from South Waziristan and went into hiding after the incident.

Police said geofencing showed that the mobile phones allegedly used by the two suspects were located in Murree at the time of the killing. Investigators believe the suspects may have hired assailants to carry out the attack.

What does the FIR say?

According to the FIR, Shamsu received a phone call on August 14 asking her to leave her home. She then left in her car with her brother and sister to visit her father in Faisal Town.

Near Faisal Town, two unidentified motorcycle riders opened fire on her vehicle. A bullet struck Shamsu in the neck, killing her at the scene. Her brother, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle, which then collided with a dumper coming from the opposite direction.

Her brother and sister were also injured in the incident.

Shamsu's father alleged in the FIR that his daughter was killed over a financial dispute. He said she had told him that two suspects had taken money from her and had also threatened to kill her.

Police have formed several investigation teams and are collecting evidence from different locations. Investigators are also conducting a forensic examination of Shamsu's mobile phone and examining people who had been in frequent contact with her.

Family alleges financial dispute

Shamsu's brother Rahmatullah also claimed that the killing was linked to a financial dispute. He alleged that the suspect arrested by police was not nominated by the family.

However, the investigation officer said the written complaint used to register the FIR was submitted by Shamsu's father himself.

Rahmatullah said the family has 10 siblings and Shamsu was the third. He said she had three children and was travelling to her father's home to meet her siblings when she was attacked.

Police have also written to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police seeking assistance in the investigation.
