(Digital Itla) Actor-turned-politician Vijay, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and prominent Tamil film star, has demanded the complete abolition of the NEET examination system, openly declaring support for student protests in New Delhi.
In a message posted in Tamil on X (formerly Twitter), the actor-politician clarified that his party, TVK's position is clear: the NEET examination system must be completely abolished.
He stated, "We will not engage in vote-bank politics or make false promises on this matter. This exam system has caused immense hardship not only to students but also to their families."
Vijay, known for his roles in films like Master and Leo, urged the central government that to end exams like NEET, education must be transferred back to the State List to ensure a permanent solution.
He suggested that if there are legal or constitutional hurdles, a special list should be temporarily created to grant states full authority over medical education and academic matters.
Vijay's statement came hours before the release of his final film as an actor, Jana Nayagan. Notably, he joins prominent figures like Prakash Raj, Shabana Azmi, and Riteish Deshmukh, who have voiced support for protests led by the Cook Roach Janata Party over paper leak controversies.
