(Digital Itla) Yemeni Houthi rebels have announced a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia. A Houthi military spokesperson declared that an immediate maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia has been enforced and that any blockade of Yemeni ports or attacks on the Sana'a airport will receive a full response. He stated that their people cannot silently endure this cruel siege and maintain the full right to counter aggression.
Spokesperson Yahya Saree remarked that the continuous blockade of Yemen's Sana'a Airport is "unacceptable and cannot be tolerated," warning that any blockade or escalation will be met with a matching response. The Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out attacks on the Sana'a airport last week and retaliated by targeting Saudi Arabia's Abha International Airport.
Saudi Arabia is Pakistan's Red Line
Pakistan has expressed deep concern over the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. Speaking to the Reuters news agency, a Pakistani official stated that top political and military leadership has clearly communicated to Iran at the highest level that Saudi Arabia is Pakistan's red line, and any attack on Saudi Arabia will be considered an attack on Pakistan. Reuters noted that Pakistan had previously expressed displeasure over Iranian attacks involving Saudi Arabia earlier this year.
Yemeni Houthi rebels targeted the Abha Airport in southern Saudi Arabia using multiple ballistic missiles and drones. Following the attack, the Houthi militia issued a statement warning all airlines using Saudi airspace to take their warning very seriously. Reports indicate that this action by the Houthis was in response to attacks carried out yesterday on the Houthi-controlled Sana'a airport by the Saudi-backed Yemeni government. On the other hand, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) strongly condemned the ballistic missile and drone attack on southern Saudi Arabia and called on the international community to take strict action against the Houthi militia. GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi stated in a condemnation notice that this terrorist attack by the Houthi militia is a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law. He added that the attack serves as proof of continuous efforts to sabotage regional peace and stability and target innocent civilians and critical civilian infrastructure.
