Faisalabad 30 Sep (DIGITAL ITLA) — Syed Zia Alamdar Hussain, Central Chairman of the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PHMA), and Mian Farrukh Iqbal, Zonal Chairman of PHMA, have jointly urged the Federal Government and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the deadline for filing income tax returns for the tax year 2026 by at least one month.

In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, the PHMA leaders highlighted that the business community and taxpayers are facing considerable difficulties in completing and filing their returns within the current deadline. They noted that taxpayers, tax consultants, and business organizations are under significant pressure due to the heavy volume of paperwork and documentation required within a limited timeframe.

Emphasizing the need for relief, they stated that an extension would grant taxpayers enough time to file accurately, preventing unnecessary complications, penalties, and inconvenience, while ensuring the smooth completion of the tax-filing process and fostering better cooperation between businesses and tax authorities. The leaders expressed optimism that the government would take prompt action in the best interest of the business community and the national economy.
