Faisalabad RPO Demotes Inspector Over Poor Investigation and Misuse of Authority

FAISALABAD: Regional Police Officer Faisalabad Sohail Akhtar Sukhera has continued an internal accountability drive against police officers and personnel, demoting an inspector over poor investigation and misuse of authority, officials said.

Inspector Iftikhar Saleeqa of Toba Tek Singh district was demoted from the rank of inspector to sub-inspector following departmental action over shortcomings in an investigation and exceeding his authority, according to the police department.

Sukhera said accountability within the police force was being carried out without discrimination and that no officer or official would be considered above the law.

He said departmental action was being taken against personnel involved in corruption, negligence or misconduct and that there was no place in the police department for corrupt or incompetent officers.

The RPO said a zero-tolerance policy against corrupt elements would continue to be enforced, while officers performing their duties responsibly would be encouraged.

He said indiscriminate disciplinary action would continue in the future to ensure professional discipline within the department.

Sukhera added that negligence in protecting the lives and property of citizens would not be tolerated.
