Creating New Provinces is a Distraction From Country's Situation: Fazlur Rehman

(Digital Itla) Quetta: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that creating new provinces is not an easy task. "Creating provinces is not a bad thing, but can the country bear its burden? We must look at the nation's structure before forming new provinces," he noted. He added that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi could not have made such a statement without consulting the Prime Minister, and that new topics are raised merely to divert attention from current national issues.

Fazlur Rehman urged Mahmood Khan Achakzai to convene a joint opposition meeting to deliberate on the country's situation, stating that if Achakzai does not, JUI-F will call a national-level meeting. He further stated that democracy will not thrive if customized governments are formed, adding that parliament has been weakened and the country needs to be run according to the Constitution.
