(Digital Itla) The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has issued an important statement regarding Pakistani medical students studying in Afghanistan.
According to PMDC, Pakistani medical graduates graduating from Afghanistan will not be eligible to practice in Pakistan, and medical/dental graduates from Afghanistan will not be able to obtain registration with PMDC.
Medical institutions in Afghanistan are not included in the recognized list of the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Consequently, students graduating from Afghanistan will also be ineligible to sit for the Pakistani National Registration Examination (NRE).
Pakistani graduates from foreign institutions recognized by the ECFMG will remain eligible for the NRE exam. Students are strongly advised to check ECFMG approval prior to seeking medical admissions in Afghanistan.
PMDC affirmed that no relaxations or special exemptions will be granted under the eligibility rules.
