Adiala Jail Superintendent Submits Key Report Regarding PTI Founder

(Digital Itla) The Superintendent of Adiala Jail presented a significant report in court as PTI founder Imran Khan completed three years in prison.

In the report submitted to the Islamabad High Court (IHC), the Adiala Jail Superintendent refuted claims of keeping Imran Khan in solitary confinement or subjecting him to any discriminatory treatment.

According to the report, the superintendent informed the court that the system of solitary confinement in prisons no longer exists; it is neither practiced today nor do courts hand down such punishments. No prisoner, including Imran Khan, is kept in solitary confinement. He is a convicted prisoner serving his sentence strictly according to the law.

Additional Facilities for Imran Khan

The report noted that Imran Khan is being treated per legal parameters like all other prisoners without discrimination. Given his status as a "Better Class" prisoner, additional facilities have been provided, alongside special security arrangements due to his standing as a former Prime Minister and prominent political figure.

No Access for General Inmates

The report highlighted that regular prisoners are barred from Imran Khan's block for security reasons. The facilities available to him demonstrate he is not in solitary confinement: the former prime minister can walk freely throughout a 7-cell compound during the day and stays inside his designated cell only during specific nighttime hours.

Medical Checkups Thrice Daily and Food Quality Inspection

"Jail officials and staff remain in constant contact with Imran Khan regarding his needs. The Deputy Superintendent meets him routinely and holds special meetings as required. Jail doctors examine him three times a day and test his food. They monitor parameters such as blood pressure, pulse rate, oxygen levels, and perform additional medical checkups whenever necessary."

Three Daily Meals Prepared to His Preferred Menu

The report mentioned that a inmate cook prepares three meals daily according to Imran Khan's preferred menu.

Justice Khadam Hussain Soomro of the Islamabad High Court will hear the petition regarding solitary confinement tomorrow, following the response filed by the Adiala Jail Superintendent.
