(Digital Itla) The government is considering lifting the ban on domestic LNG connections, provided that the LNG supply from Qatar improves. Following attacks on LNG production plants in Qatar during the US-Iran conflict, Qatar suspended its global LNG supply, a disruption that has now been extended until the end of August 2026.
According to Petroleum Division sources, the ban is expected to be removed as soon as Qatar's force majeure ends, meaning domestic LNG connections could potentially resume by September. Notably, domestic LNG connections were halted in May following the supply suspension.
