Obtaining a US Visa Becomes Easier

(Digital Itla) The United States has announced the resumption of visa services at its consulates in Lahore and Karachi, bringing major relief to citizens who have been waiting for months.

According to details, the US Embassy announced that its Lahore and Karachi consulates will resume regular consular operations and wildlife/visa processing starting this month, following a four-month suspension. Following the relocation and restoration of operations, both consulates will begin processing all non-immigrant visa applications—including visitor (tourist), student (educational), and business visas—starting July 20th.

In March, violent protests and security concerns across various parts of the country had prompted the evacuation of non-essential staff and the suspension of operations at the Karachi and Lahore consulates, leaving thousands of applicants facing severe delays and uncertainty regarding interview dates. The US Embassy also clarified that the Peshawar consulate’s operations were phased out earlier in May, with its services permanently transferred to the US Embassy in Islamabad. The reopening of the Lahore and Karachi consulates is expected to clear the backlog and gradually ease the process of securing appointments.
