Decision to Deploy Pakistan Army and Rangers in Punjab for Muharram-ul-Haram

(Digital Itla) A decision has been made to deploy the Pakistan Army and Rangers across Punjab during Muharram-ul-Haram. According to the spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, a total of 137 companies of the Army and Rangers have been requested for security duties during Muharram across 39 districts of the province.

A formal letter has been dispatched to the Federal Ministry of Interior, requesting the deployment of 61 companies of the Pakistan Army and 76 companies of the Rangers. The spokesperson shared that the contingents of the Pakistan Army and Rangers will perform security duties from the 1st to the 11th of Muharram-ul-Haram, based on the specific requirements of various districts, to ensure the peaceful conduct of Majalis and processions. The Punjab Home Department added that law enforcement agencies will fulfill their responsibilities to maintain law and order and make security arrangements foolproof during Muharram. The spokesperson further noted that the letter was sent to the Federal Interior Ministry following a formal request by the Punjab Police for security assistance.
