07 June 2026

(Digital Itla) Social media users in India are furious over a bill of INR 1.67 million (equivalent to PKR 4.9 million) spent on "tea and snacks" for rescue teams at the site of an Air India plane crash that occurred a year ago in Ahmedabad.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation approved the bill for refreshments provided to emergency relief and rescue teams following the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171 on June 12, 2025. According to the report, the bill included tea, biscuits, water bottles, and milk provided to municipal workers, police, volunteers, and debris-clearing crews at the crash site for nearly a month. Social media users have expressed severe outrage over such massive expenditures of public funds surrounding a tragedy. Notably, on June 12, 2025, an Air India passenger plane crashed and was destroyed in Ahmedabad, resulting in the tragic deaths of over 240 people.
