We Can Acquire Iranian Enriched Uranium Right Now but There's No Need: Trump

05 June 2026

(Digital Itla) Amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, US President Donald Trump has claimed that the United States possesses the capability to seize Iran's "underground secured" enriched uranium reserves immediately, though he added there is currently no need to do so.

Speaking to the media, President Trump shared that he had held productive discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hezbollah representatives regarding the situation in Lebanon. Meanwhile, Hezbollah has rejected the US-mediated ceasefire proposal between Lebanon and Israel. Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem termed the agreement "shameful," calling it a plot to destroy a portion of Lebanon. Concurrently, Israeli airstrikes persist across various regions of Lebanon, resulting in multiple casualties. According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, thousands have been affected since March. The UN has launched an investigation into an attack in southern Lebanon that killed one UN peacekeeper and injured two others. On the other hand, the Israeli military confirmed that one of its soldiers was killed in a Hezbollah missile strike in southern Lebanon. In Gaza, despite ceasefire claims, Israeli operations continue, leaving at least 11 Palestinians martyred and 32 injured within the last 24 hours as Palestinian officials call for urgent global intervention due to worsening humanitarian conditions.
