Major Warning for Students Aspiring to Study Abroad

05 June 2026

(Digital Itla) A crucial warning has been issued for parents and students seeking higher education abroad, emphasizing that it is mandatory to fully verify the mode of education of the respective program before taking admission to any foreign university.

In this regard, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) issued an advisory directing students to ensure that the program they are enrolling in—whether on-campus, online, or via blended learning—is formally approved by the regulatory bodies or accreditation boards of that country. If a program requires physical attendance or specific residential conditions, strict compliance is deemed necessary. According to the advisory, every application for the equivalence of foreign degrees is assessed on an individual basis, evaluating the legal status of the university, program approval, teaching methodology, duration, and other conditions. Students are advised to thoroughly inspect the university and program before taking admission to avoid any complications during the degree verification or equivalence process later. The Commission clarified that applications for foreign degree equivalence can be submitted online, and every case is decided strictly on merit and defined regulations.
