(Digital Itla) A shocking case of forgery has come to light in Karachi's Union Committee Rahim Goth, Manghopir, where the secretary issued a divorce certificate to the widow of a head clerk who passed away five months ago.
The fake divorce certificate, bearing the signature of UC Secretary Zahid Abbasi, was issued on February 25, 2025, to Mumtaz Begum, a resident of Sakhi Dad Wahi Dilipota, District Naushahro Feroze, despite the fact that her husband, Muharram Pirzada (a head clerk in the Irrigation Department), had passed away four months prior. The widow, Mumtaz Begum, stated that she spent four months and twenty days in Iddat (mourning period). She alleged that after her husband's death, her brother-in-law committed this forgery in connivance with UC Secretary Zahid Abbasi, who allegedly took a heavy bribe to issue the fraudulent document in an attempt to illegally seize her late husband's property and government allowances.
