(Digital Ittila) Pakistan: The circulation of counterfeit currency has become a serious issue in Pakistan, which not only affects the national economy but also causes financial loss to ordinary citizens. Currently, the highest denomination currency note in the country is the 5,000 rupee note. To curb fake notes and raise public awareness, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has released a special awareness video.
According to the State Bank, the 5,000 rupee note is legally tender across the country, and distinguishing between genuine and fake notes during financial transactions is extremely important. For this purpose, several modern security features have been included in the note so that forgery can be prevented and the public can easily identify an authentic note.
-
Watermark Feature: The 5,000 rupee note includes a watermark of Quaid-e-Azam's portrait, which is clearly visible when held up to the light. Below this image, an electrotype watermark of the note's denomination "5000" is also present, which is a key identifier of a genuine note.
-
Security Thread: A specific security thread is embedded inside the note, which appears as a vertical shiny strip when viewed against light. The denomination "5000" can also be seen on this strip, strengthening the note's security.
-
Complete Numeral on See-Through: The digits of the denomination are printed in separate parts on the upper part of the note; however, when the note is held up against the light, all these parts combine to display a complete "5000".
-
Color-Changing National Flag: The national flag is printed with special ink on the front right side of the note. Its color appears to change when viewed from different angles, a feature that is considered extremely difficult to replicate in fake notes.
-
Marks for Visually Impaired Persons: Three raised circles are made on the left side of the note, which visually impaired individuals can touch to gauge the denomination of the note.
-
Hidden Denomination Numeral: A hidden numeral of "5000" is present on the right side of Quaid-e-Azam's portrait, which becomes visible only when viewed from a specific angle.
-
Raised Printing (Intaglio): Quaid-e-Azam's sherwani, the numeral five thousand, and specific lines on both sides are prepared through raised printing. This feature can be easily felt by touching, whereas the same parts are smooth on the backside of the note.
-
Identification Under Ultraviolet Light: Under UV light, blue and yellow glowing strips become prominent on the security thread of the 5,000 rupee note. Apart from this, specific designs around Quaid-e-Azam's portrait and fine luminous lines of lemon green color can also be clearly seen.
The State Bank has advised the public to must inspect these security features when receiving high-denomination notes to avoid counterfeit currency and ensure secure financial transactions.
