(Digital Ittila) Karachi: Summer vacations have commenced in the Sindh High Court and subordinate courts across the province, which will continue until August 2. During this period, special arrangements have been made to keep the judicial system functional within a limited scope. According to judicial sources, despite the vacations, special benches have been formed to hear urgent and important cases to provide relief to citizens in emergency legal matters.
According to a circular issued by the Registrar of the Sindh High Court, the special benches will hear cases daily from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM during the holidays, while judicial and office working hours have been set from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The notification further stated that along with the main bench of the High Court in Karachi, special arrangements have also been made in the circuit benches of Hyderabad, Larkana, and Sukkur so that judicial facilities across the province are not affected.
A two-member constitutional bench headed by Justice Saleem Jasar has been formed to hear cases and petitions of important constitutional nature. Similarly, a two-member bench headed by Justice Arshad Hussain Khan will work for important and urgent regular cases. Apart from this, Justice Umar Sial and Justice Yusuf Ali Saeed will continue to hear urgent cases in separate single benches. According to judicial officials, the hearing of ordinary cases will remain postponed during the vacations; however, proceedings on bail, injunctions, and other emergency petitions will continue on a daily basis to provide relief to citizens. These arrangements have been made to ensure that the judicial system works effectively and actively despite the vacations.
