The Entire Sikh Community is Being Demonized: Dabinderjit Singh

London (Digital Itla): A prominent leader of the UK Sikh Federation, Dabinderjit Singh, has stated that after a Sikh killed a university student using a Kirpan, the entire Sikh community is being demonized. Earlier this week, Vikram Singh was convicted of the murder of Henry Novak and will be sentenced on Monday. The student's murder was committed with a Kirpan, which Sikhs are religiously obligated to carry with them. Dabinderjit Singh also claimed that hate crimes against Sikhs have increased following this incident, and he has appealed to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood to maintain a record of crimes against Sikhs, similar to Jews and Muslims. The world's richest man, Elon Musk, has also criticized Britain’s laws regarding carrying knives. According to the Sikh Federation, the weapon used by Singh in the attack was larger than the traditional weapon used religiously by Sikhs. Reform UK leader Robert Jenrick has announced that his party will attempt to enforce a ban on carrying knives in public places.
