Livestock Department and Punjab Food Authority bust illegal slaughterhouse in Faisalabad; 2,000 kg hazardous meat seized and incinerated

Faisalabad 13 Oct 2026 (DIGITAL ITLA): In a major joint enforcement operation against food adulteration and illegal slaughtering, the Livestock Department Faisalabad and the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) raided an illegal slaughterhouse operating at Chak 67 G.B. Sadhar, Subzi Mandi Charagah, Faisalabad.

According to official details, the joint enforcement team seized approximately 2,000 kilograms (2 metric tons) of uninspected, un-stamped, highly substandard, and foul-smelling meat from the illegal facility. Following thorough veterinary inspection, health experts declared the seized meat unfit for human consumption, posing severe risks to public health. The entire quantity was subsequently disposed of and incinerated under controlled safety protocols.

Authorities have registered a formal criminal case against the suspects involved in running the illegal abattoir and distributing hazardous meat, with further legal proceedings actively underway under applicable food safety and municipal laws.
