KARACHI: President of the Karachi Electronics Market, Rizwan Irfan, has announced that electronics markets across the city will remain closed on Thursday in protest against the alleged arrests of shopkeepers from Rambo Centre.
Rizwan Irfan said a “false FIR” was registered over a dispute concerning the closure of the passage leading to the first floor of Rambo Centre. He said five shopkeepers have been arrested in connection with the case.
He warned that if the cases are not withdrawn and the arrested traders are not released by Thursday night, electronics markets will remain completely closed as part of the protest.
He added that Rambo Centre has remained closed since Wednesday.
Traders Demand Withdrawal of Cases
Rizwan Irfan demanded that the cases against the shopkeepers be withdrawn and those arrested be released. He said the traders would continue their protest if their demands were not addressed.
