Faisalabad Authorities Seize 37,366kg of Substandard Pesticides

FAISALABAD, Aug. 10: Agriculture authorities in Faisalabad have seized 37,366 kg of substandard pesticides worth approximately 225 million Pakistani rupees during a raid on an agricultural chemicals company, officials said on Monday.

The raid was conducted on the instructions of Faisalabad Commissioner Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh at Vertex Ag (Private) Limited in the 67-JB Sadhar area.

According to Director Agriculture Plant Protection Zulfiqar Ali Ghori, officials found several irregularities during the inspection, including falsified data, illegal packaging, the use of an unauthorized registration number and the absence of verification for the company's packaging plant.

The inspection team collected samples from the site and detained one person, who was handed over to police. A case was also registered against those involved, officials said.

Ghori said the operation continued for around 48 hours and that the team carried out the action despite pressure during the raid.

Authorities said the crackdown was aimed at preventing the sale and distribution of substandard and illegally packaged agricultural pesticides and protecting farmers from potentially harmful products.
