Vandalism at Electric Bus Stops in Rawalpindi

(Digital Itla) Unknown miscreants vandalized 49 electric bus waiting areas in Rawalpindi, damaging government property worth millions of rupees.

According to municipal authorities, bus stops located on Rawal Road, Tipu Road, Liaquat Bagh, Murree Road, Asghar Mall, Double Road, Sadiqabad, Pirwadhai, and Ganjmandi were targeted overnight.

Installed signboards, motors, and infrastructure were destroyed, including displays carrying the Punjab government logo and images of the chief minister.

Municipal Officer Infrastructure Rafaqat Gondal stated that 70 out of 80 planned electric bus stations had already been installed, with each station costing approximately Rs900,000. Total damages are estimated at over Rs40 million.

 

Authorities said strict legal action would be taken against those responsible, while police and administration officials continue investigating the incident.
