(Digital Itla) A court in the United Arab Emirates has sentenced a citizen to three years in prison and imposed a fine of 5 million dirhams for posting a false video related to Morocco on social media.

According to authorities, the video attempted to promote child marriage and spread false claims.

The State Security Chamber of the Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeals found Saif Salem Saif Ali Al-Maqbali guilty.

The court also ordered the removal of the video, the closure of the accused’s social media accounts, and the confiscation of the mobile phone used for the activity.

Prosecutors stated that after investigations, the case was immediately referred to court because the accused had falsely claimed in a video that child marriage is permitted in Morocco.
