Corruption, Bribery, and Serious Crimes: Allegations Expose Indian Army’s Controversial Role

(Digital Itla) India’s own newspaper, Hindustan Times, has reportedly exposed corruption and controversial practices within the politicized Indian military.
According to Hindustan Times, India’s Central Bureau of Investigation arrested an Army Ordnance Corps colonel in Kolkata in a bribery case involving 5 million Indian rupees.
The officer, Colonel Himanshu Bali, was posted with the Army Ordnance Corps Eastern Command in Kolkata and allegedly accepted a bribe from a company based in Kanpur.
Reports state that Colonel Himanshu Bali was taken into custody in Kolkata under anti-corruption laws and later transferred to Delhi for further investigation.
According to the FIR, Colonel Bali and other officers allegedly colluded in awarding multiple tenders in exchange for heavy bribes.
Experts claim that corruption within the Indian armed forces, particularly the increasing number of accidents in the Indian Air Force, are not merely technical issues but clear evidence of corruption and administrative failures.
