Pakistani Cinema Enters China as “The Legend of Maula Jatt” Creates Buzz

(Digital Itla) A grand Chinese-language premiere of The Legend of Maula Jatt was held in Beijing, marking what is being described as a historic development in film cooperation between Pakistan and China.

The film will be officially released in cinemas across China starting May 21, 2026.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, stated that the film will introduce Chinese audiences to the unique colors of Pakistani cinema, culture, and traditions.

The release became possible under the film co-production agreement signed in June 2024 between Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the China Film Administration. The agreement aims to promote joint productions between filmmakers of both countries.
