(Digital Itla)Faisalabad Waste Management Company (FWMC) has been hit by a massive corruption scandal involving more than Rs 1 billion.
A case has been registered in the Anti-Corruption Faisalabad Circle against senior officials of the department. The FIR was lodged over alleged financial irregularities and misuse of authority by FWMC officers. Following a citizen’s complaint, a case was registered against 12 individuals, including Managing Director Abdul Rauf and contractor Farooq Khan.
According to allegations, over Rs 1 billion was withdrawn through various methods using a fake company. The FIR states that attendance of 663 ghost employees was marked on the dashboard to obtain millions of rupees illegally. It further revealed that only 33 waste enclosures were used instead of 118, while millions of rupees were allegedly embezzled every month in the name of the remaining 85 waste enclosures. Similarly, only 1,717 garbage containers were installed instead of the claimed 2,317 containers.
According to reports, FWMC officials and contractors went into hiding immediately after the case was registered.
