FAISALABAD, Aug 15, 2026 — A wanted robber was killed in an alleged police encounter near Bathan Stop in Chak Jhumra, Faisalabad, police said.

The suspect, identified as Salman, a resident of Vehari, was killed during an exchange of fire after he allegedly opened fire on police, according to officials.

Police said Salman was a known criminal and had previously been involved in incidents of firing on Lahore and Vehari police.

The alleged encounter took place near Bathan Stop with a police team led by Chak Jhumra Station House Officer Inspector Rizwan Shaukat.

According to police, Salman was caught in the crossfire and was killed by shots fired by his own accomplices during the exchange of fire. The other suspects fled the scene.

Police took the deceased suspect’s body into custody and shifted it to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.

A search operation has been launched to arrest the fleeing suspects, police said.
