Seminar on Media Literacy in the Digital Era Held at GC Women University Faisalabad
FAISALABAD: A seminar on “Media Literacy in the Digital Era” was held at Government College Women University Faisalabad, chaired by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Kanwal Amin (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz).
The vice chancellor said that media literacy, information verification and critical thinking have become essential in the digital age. She urged students to verify the source and authenticity of any news, image, video or claim before sharing it.
Dr. Sawaira Majeeb Shami, Head of the Department of Digital Media at the University of the Punjab, highlighted the importance of responsible digital behaviour in the context of social media algorithms, misinformation and AI-generated content.
Sana Naveed Khan spoke about social media algorithms, while Zeeshan Haider of BBC News Urdu, Hussam Ahmed and Afaf discussed fact-checking and responsible journalism.
The seminar was organised by the Department of Media and Communication Studies and the Media and Communication Society of GC Women University Faisalabad. Media representatives, faculty members and students attended the event.
