Raid on illegal abattoir: Authorities face scrutiny for creating air pollution by burning unwholesome meat instead of proper disposal

Faisalabad 10 Oct (DIGITAL ITLA): A joint raid conducted by the Livestock Department and the Punjab Food Authority at an illegal abattoir in Chak 247 RB Miani, Faisalabad, has sparked concerns after alleged unwholesome meat was set on fire in the open rather than being disposed of through standard procedures.

According to reports, the substandard and unhygienic meat recovered during the operation was required to be buried or incinerated following safe environmental protocols. However, setting the meat on fire openly resulted in heavy smoke, foul odors, and air pollution across the vicinity, triggering complaints from local residents regarding environmental hazards.

Taking notice of the incident, relevant authorities have initiated an inquiry into both the operation of the illegal slaughterhouse and the improper disposal method to ensure necessary legal action is taken against those responsible.
