FAISALABAD, Aug 28, 2026 — Punjab Sports Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar visited the Al-Fateh Sports Complex in Faisalabad on Friday and inaugurated newly established table tennis and squash facilities, as the provincial government steps up efforts to improve sports infrastructure and promote youth participation.

During his visit, Khokhar inspected various facilities and reviewed the infrastructure and services available to athletes at the sports complex.

The minister visited the badminton courts, karate area, mat wrestling facility, gym and football ground. He also inspected training facilities and sports grounds and received briefings from officials on athletes' training activities, available facilities and the overall performance of the complex.

Focus on youth and sports

Speaking during the visit, Khokhar said encouraging young people to participate in healthy and positive activities was an important priority.

He said sports help develop discipline, teamwork, tolerance and a positive mindset among young people.

The provincial government, he said, was taking practical steps to promote sports and provide better facilities for young athletes across Punjab.

Government seeks to develop new talent

Khokhar said the Punjab government, under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, was placing greater emphasis on sports development and providing young people with opportunities to demonstrate their abilities.

He said sports grounds and training centres were being made more active and better equipped to help identify and develop emerging talent.

The minister said improving and modernising sports complexes and playing fields in Faisalabad was also among the government's priorities.

"Every talented young person should have an opportunity to prove themselves in sport," Khokhar said.

He added that better infrastructure, quality training facilities and a supportive environment could help athletes improve their performance and compete at national and international levels.

Officials directed to improve facilities

Khokhar directed sports officials to ensure that the facilities available at the complex were used effectively and that athletes were provided with a suitable environment and quality training opportunities.

He said continued investment in sports infrastructure and athlete development would help talented players represent Punjab and Pakistan at national and international competitions.

Divisional Sports Officer, District Sports Officer and other officials from the Punjab Sports Department were also present during the visit.
