Faisalabad 30 Sep (DIGITAL ITLA) — Acting on the directives of the Director General, the Punjab Food Authority conducted a raid at a chicken shop in People's Colony Number 2, disposing of two maunds of diseased poultry on the spot.

According to a Punjab Food Authority spokesperson, the action was taken due to poor hygiene standards and the recovery of rotten meat. The inspection revealed a heavy infestation of flies without any preventive measures, dirty crates, broken flooring, blood-stained walls, and extensive cobwebs. Furthermore, chicken was stored in poor condition inside an unhygienic freezer, while mandatory operational records and medical and training certificates for food handlers were missing.

DG Food Authority Mansoor Ahmad stated that province-wide operations against substandard meat are ongoing, emphasizing that no negligence regarding food safety laws will be tolerated and that providing safe and wholesome food to citizens remains the top priority.
