Over 1.484 Million Voters Removed from Electoral Rolls; Reason Is Quite Interesting

(Digital Itla) The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has removed 1,484,382 deceased voters from the electoral rolls, while 894,924 new eligible voters have been added to the voter lists.

The Election Commission released data on registered voters from May 7 to July 2. According to the data, the number of registered voters across the country decreased by nearly 600,000 in two months.

A decrease of 589,458 registered voters was recorded nationwide, bringing the total to 136,574,399. The count dropped by 450,000 male voters and 138,000 female voters. According to the Election Commission, voter count decreased by 478,909 in Punjab and by 97,216 in Sindh.

Similarly, voter numbers fell by 2,226 in Balochistan and by 9,046 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In Islamabad Capital Territory, voter numbers decreased by 2,061. According to sources, electoral rolls are updated based on NADRA data; since lists are linked to National Identity Cards, duplicate voters are not possible.
