(Digital Itla) Senior Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah expressed deep outrage over the police baton-charge on students in New Delhi.

The student protests in India against the NEET paper leak and the 'Chalo Parliament' march have now transformed into a widespread movement. The situation escalated further following police violence and baton-charging during a sit-in demonstration on July 20.

Following actresses Shabana Azmi, Kanika Sadanand, and Prakash Raj, legendary Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah has now stepped forward in support of the students.

The 76-year-old veteran actor released an emotional video message on his Instagram account, looking visibly furious and tearful while discussing the violence inflicted upon students. He strongly criticized the Modi government and those taking action against the protesters.

In his video message, Naseeruddin Shah stated: "If an ignorant person leads this country, they will naturally want the entire nation to become as clueless, incompetent, and ruthless as they are."

Expressing his deep bond with the students, he mentioned that he has learned a great deal from these young people throughout his teaching career, and that all his sympathies and prayers are with the protesters.

With teary eyes, he voiced his distress: "My heart is heavy and I am boiling with rage seeing how our children are being treated with such cruelty at the hands of these thugs."

Addressing those committing the violence, he advised them to think about their own children, warning that their own reckoning would inevitably come one day.

Encouraging the youth and protesters, Naseeruddin Shah said: "Do not lose heart; the sympathy and support of many people are with you. Keep fighting your battle. I have always held hope for the country's younger generation, and that hope has now grown even brighter."
