Major crackdown on hazardous hospital waste: EPA arrests suspects involved in illegal recycling and trade

Faisalabad 11 Oct (DIGITAL ITLA): Taking decisive action against environmental hazards and illegal waste management, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) launched a crackdown in Faisalabad, arresting individuals involved in the illegal collection, sale, and recycling of infectious hospital waste.

The operational team, led by EPA Deputy Director Dr. Tahir Syal, executed the action after detecting systemic violations of environmental laws. Dr. Tahir Syal briefed that instead of safely incinerating the medical waste as mandated by health and environmental protocols, the suspects were unlawfully collecting and recycling it for commercial sale, posing severe public health risks.

EPA authorities reaffirmed that strict legal measures will continue across the district against entities violating biosafety guidelines and endangering public wellbeing through hazardous waste disposal practices.
