FIA Faisalabad Arrests Proclaimed Offender and Former Bank Manager in Major Fraud Case
FAISALABAD: 6 Oct (Digital Itla)---- In a major crackdown, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Wing (ECW) Faisalabad has arrested a proclaimed offender, Imran Sajid, a former branch manager of MCB Bank, MA Jinnah Road Branch, Okara.
The operation was executed under the directives of FIA Faisalabad Zone Director Saqib Sultan and the supervision of Deputy Director Tariq Mahmood. An FIA team, headed by SHO Sub-Inspector Ajmal Hussain, apprehended the suspect at Lahore Airport upon his return from the United Arab Emirates, as his name was listed on the Passport Control List (PCL).
The case stems from an inquiry (No. 904/2025) launched on the complaint of Rehmat Ali, a resident of Adda Khas, Okara district. Following the completion of investigations, FIR No. C/410/2025 was registered at FIA Police Station ECW Faisalabad under sections 5(2)47 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, read with 109, 409, and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
According to initial findings, the suspect allegedly abused his authority as branch manager to lure the complainant into a high-profit investment scheme alongside an accomplice, obtaining PKR 10 million. Instead of depositing the funds into the bank account, the accused allegedly embezzled the amount. When the complainant demanded the money back, the suspects returned PKR 2.5 million in cash and issued a cheque for another PKR 2.5 million, which subsequently bounced. The remaining balance of PKR 5 million is also reportedly misappropriated and overdue.
The FIA is currently investigating the potential involvement of other accomplices and stated that further legal action will follow accordingly.
