Staff directed to double surveillance and ensure timely elimination of mosquito breeding sites

FAISALABAD, Aug. 18, 2026: Director General Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Muhammad Asif Chaudhry has ordered officials to double surveillance activities as part of efforts to prevent dengue, directing staff to remain more active and ensure the timely identification and elimination of potential dengue mosquito breeding sites.

He assigned a special task to Additional Director General FDA Qaiser Abbas Rand, directing him to monitor the performance of surveillance staff on a daily basis and hold officials accountable for negligence or poor performance.

The FDA director general said traditional measures alone were not sufficient to address the potential threat of dengue and stressed the need for continuous monitoring, immediate action and responsible performance.

Following the instructions, Qaiser Abbas Rand convened an emergency meeting to review the performance of the anti-dengue surveillance teams. Director Town Planning-II Asma Mohsin, focal person for anti-dengue activities and Assistant Director IT Usman Ramey, along with other relevant officials and building inspectors, attended the meeting.

Qaiser Abbas Rand said effective implementation of the Punjab government's anti-dengue guidelines was essential, particularly during the rainy season when conditions become more favorable for mosquito breeding.

He directed teams to regularly inspect the FDA complex and all subordinate offices, including buildings, rooftops, lawns, parking areas, flowerpots, coolers, drainage points and other potential breeding sites.

Officials were also instructed to ensure the immediate removal of stagnant rainwater and maintain proper cleanliness and drainage to prevent conditions conducive to dengue mosquito breeding.

Surveillance in Private Housing Schemes

Qaiser Abbas Rand ordered stronger dengue surveillance in private housing societies and directed their management to strictly comply with anti-dengue standard operating procedures.

He said special attention should be given to under-construction buildings, vacant plots, construction structures, water tanks and other potential breeding sites. Relevant authorities should be informed promptly in case of violations.

He further directed surveillance teams to maintain complete daily records of their activities and submit timely reports detailing observations, identified breeding sites and corrective measures taken.

The additional director general also instructed officials to maintain continuous coordination with district administration and health department officials, saying dengue prevention was a joint responsibility requiring coordinated action and timely information sharing.

He stressed that anti-dengue activities should focus on practical results rather than being limited to paperwork.

Qaiser Abbas Rand also directed officials to continue public awareness campaigns on preventive measures and precautions to help protect citizens from dengue and prevent the breeding of dengue mosquitoes.
