Faisalabad Cracks Down on Overcharging, Two Shopkeepers Arrested

FAISALABAD, Aug. 10: Authorities in Faisalabad have launched a crackdown on shopkeepers violating price-control regulations, registering a case against one trader and arresting two others, officials said on Monday.

Administrative Officer and Price Control Magistrate Riaz Hussain Anjum inspected prices of essential commodities at markets in Multan Road, Gulistan Colony, Sheikhupura Road and other areas.

Officials took action against traders found charging prices above the officially prescribed rates during the inspections.

Anjum said shopkeepers would not be given any concession for charging arbitrary prices for essential commodities and warned that enforcement action would continue against violators.

The authorities said the inspections were aimed at ensuring compliance with officially notified prices and protecting consumers from overcharging.
