(Digital Itlaa) The United Arab Emirates has announced that Iran has targeted two Emirati tankers with cruise missiles in the southern Strait of Hormuz, resulting in the death of one Indian crew member and injuries to eight others.

According to the UAE Ministry of Defense, two oil tankers—the "Mombasa" and the "Bahia"—were hit by two Iranian cruise missiles in the southern corridor of the Strait of Hormuz. The attack took place within Omani territorial waters.

The UAE Ministry of Defense stated that an Indian crew member was killed in the attack on the "Mombasa", while eight other crew members were injured, four of whom are in critical condition. The injured include six Indian and two Ukrainian nationals. Both tankers sustained damage in the attack, but the fires sparked by the missile strikes have been brought under control.

In its statement, the UAE Ministry of Defense strongly condemned the attack on its national tankers, calling it a grave and blatant violation of international law. The ministry stated that the attack poses a serious threat to the security and stability of the region, adding that the state reserves the full right to respond to this escalation. The ministry emphasized that all necessary measures will be taken to protect national sovereignty, security, and stability.
