(Digital Itla) The Saudi Ministry of Defense reported that a drone attack launched against the Kingdom from Iraq has been intercepted and thwarted.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the attack attempted to target oil installations in the Eastern Region and Riyadh, but air defense systems successfully destroyed the drones.
The attacks were conducted by pro-Iranian terror militias operating from Iraqi territory.
The Ministry of Defense stated that it reserves the full right to defend its territory and installations, adding that a response to the attack on Saudi Arabia will be delivered at an appropriate time.
Meanwhile, Iran has called for resolving the recent dispute between Saudi Arabia and Yemen through dialogue.
Iran’s call came after the Arab Coalition targeted Houthi rebel positions in Al-Hudaydah in response to acts of aggression against Saudi Arabia.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that finding a fair solution to the Yemeni crisis is imperative. Full implementation of the agreed-upon roadmap is the only effective way to end the suffering of the Yemeni people and restore peace and stability in the region.
Baghaei also noted that U.S. policies in the region have further complicated the situation in Yemen.
Earlier this month, the Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of targeting Sanaa airport to prevent an incoming aircraft from Iran from landing.
