Court Summons Maulana Fazlur Rehman Over Controversial Statement

(Digital Itla) Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), has been summoned by a court over a controversial statement. Following a petition filed against the controversial remarks, a court in Gujranwala has summoned the JUI chief, with the Additional Sessions Judge directing him to appear on July 28.

Senior lawyer Manzoor Qadir filed the petition against Maulana Fazlur Rehman yesterday, adopting the stance that the JUI chief made a controversial statement against national security institutions.

Meanwhile, a petition has also been filed in the Sessions Court in Lahore regarding Maulana's controversial statement, requesting the court to order the registration of a case against him. The petition argues that Maulana Fazlur Rehman's speech hurt public sentiments and caused grief to the families of martyrs, hence a case should be ordered against him.
