Bomb Blast in Tank Kills Six Police Officers

Armoured police vehicle targeted en route from Gomel to Tank; search operation launched

TANK, Pakistan, August 12, 2026: Six police officers were killed when a bomb blast targeted an armoured police vehicle in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to police officials.

A police spokesperson said the armoured vehicle was travelling from Gomal Police Station towards Tank when it was targeted by an explosion. An additional station house officer (SHO) was among those killed.

Rescue 1122 teams shifted the bodies of the deceased officers to the Tank District Headquarters Hospital.

Security Forces Launch Search Operation

Following the attack, police cordoned off the area and launched an operation. According to the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), security forces are conducting a large-scale search operation in the area.

Authorities have not yet released further details about the nature of the explosive device or identified those responsible for the attack.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Seeks Report

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi sought an immediate report from senior police officials following the attack.

According to a statement from the Governor House, Kundi expressed deep grief and anger over the deaths and offered condolences to the families of the police officers.

He paid tribute to the officers, saying the personnel of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police had sacrificed their lives while protecting the lives and property of the people.

President Zardari Condemns Attack

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of the police officers in the attack.

According to a statement from the President's House, Zardari paid tribute to the courage and dedication of the slain officers and praised their services to the country.

He also expressed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for strength and patience for them.

Security Measures Intensified

Security forces have intensified operations in the area following the attack. Authorities said efforts are under way to identify those responsible and maintain law and order in the district.
