(Digital Itla) The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the province, placing several restrictions on citizens.

According to ARY News, the Home Department has issued a formal notification regarding the enforcement of Section 144 across Punjab.

Under Section 144 this time, bathing in accumulated rainwater on streets, roads, and public places has been banned. Additionally, all forms of swimming in dams, rivers, canals, and lakes are strictly prohibited.

Boating without prior permission in dams, rivers, and lakes will also not be allowed under these restrictions.

The Secretary of the Punjab Home Department imposed Section 144 under the Code of Criminal Procedure, banning all above-mentioned activities for a period of 60 days. These restrictions have been put in place to protect precious human lives.

The notification directs the administration, law enforcement agencies, and relevant departments to ensure implementation of the order and to extensively publicize the enforcement of Section 144 for public awareness.

According to a spokesperson for the Home Department, monsoon rains have left water accumulated in low-lying areas and open spaces, while water levels in dams, rivers, and canals are currently high. Under these conditions, swimming and boating are extremely dangerous.
