Faisalabad / Islamabad 10 Oct (DIGITAL ITLA): "Do not tell my father about the fraud committed against me; he will die." This heartbreaking final message sent by Laiba Ejaz—a physics gold medalist from the International Islamic University—to her maternal uncle highlights the tragic reality of a brilliant student pushed to despair by a fraudulent educational consultant.

Laiba, whose father earned a modest living selling milk on a motorcycle while residing in a rented flat, harbored dreams of pursuing higher education abroad. A scammer, claiming to arrange admission and sponsorship at a top American university, demanded 7 million rupees. To support his daughter's ambitions, the hardworking father sold his only plot of land and handed over 2.1 million rupees in cash, while the mother mortgaged her jewelry to cover the remaining balance.

The devastating reality unfolded when Laiba submitted the documents for verification and discovered they were entirely fake. Overwhelmed by profound distress and the crushing impact of the financial ruin on her family, the young scholar left her residence at 2:00 PM; her body was later recovered hanging near the Sector G-10 Sunday Market in Islamabad.

Civil society, human rights advocates, and public circles have strongly condemned the predatory actions of illegal educational agents and demanded that the Islamabad Police and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) swiftly arrest the fraudulent agent. Advocates stress that exemplary punishment must be served to prevent further loss of innocent lives to deceptive scholarship and study-abroad schemes.
