PML-N Claims Simple Majority to Form Government in Azad Kashmir

(Digital Itla) The Prime Minister's Advisor on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has claimed victory for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, stating that the party has secured a simple majority to form the government.

According to details, Advisor on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah and Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam held a joint press conference in Islamabad. Speaking on the occasion, Rana Sanaullah stated that PML-N won 13 out of 20 seats in the first and second phases and has achieved a total of 23 out of 45 seats so far, positioning itself to form the government.

He mentioned that PML-N candidates secured 10 out of 12 seats reserved for refugees, while out of 7 seats in Muzaffarabad Division, PML-N won 4 and PPP secured 3.

The Advisor noted that while the PPP raised allegations of election rigging, it should now also explain its own victories.

He added that overall elections in Azad Kashmir were free, fair, and transparent, with the public expressing confidence in PML-N. Party supremo Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz extended congratulations to the successful candidates.

Rana Sanaullah announced plans to approach the Election Commission to investigate incidents in Muzaffarabad City, alleging that an atmosphere of fear was created to restrict voters to their homes, impacting thousands of PML-N votes.

He further stated that tactics were employed to disrupt polling in LA-31, noting that no medical reports or evidence were presented to support claims of an alleged attack on Latif Akbar. He asserted that PML-N engaged in no firing and accused opponents of spreading baseless propaganda.

Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam stated that peaceful elections in Azad Kashmir were the result of joint efforts by state institutions, administration, police, and security agencies. He attributed PML-N's victory to party leadership, dedicated workers, and effective teamwork, noting that the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, and Maryam Nawaz positively influenced the results.

Amir Muqam emphasized that Kashmiri voters trusted PML-N based on performance and future vision. Despite rain and logistical difficulties, turnout was strong, countering assertions of low voter participation. He urged the opposition to focus on serving the public through parliamentary politics rather than protests and accusations.

Rana Sanaullah concluded that a strong democratic government based on the public mandate will be established in Azad Kashmir, with Pakistan continuing to extend all possible support to Azad Kashmir and the Kashmir freedom movement.
