Pirmahal : Cleanliness Drive Official Assaults Garbage Collectors, Sparks Outrage

FAISALABAD, Sept 29 (DIGITAL ITLA) — A severe case of high-handedness and power abuse has emerged in Pirmahal, Toba Tek Singh district, where a local manager of the provincial cleanliness initiative allegedly assaulted poor laborers searching for recyclables at a garbage point, officials and eyewitnesses said.

According to reports, Rizwan, the Deputy Manager of the "Suthra Punjab" program in Pirmahal, accompanied by Civil Defense personnel, took the law into his own hands by establishing an illegal court on site.

The official reportedly targeted impoverished workers for opening and sifting through the garbage point to earn a living, subjecting them to physical assault, slaps, and public humiliation.

The incident has sparked widespread anger among local residents and civic circles, who condemned the act as a blatant display of arrogance and misuse of authority against vulnerable citizens. Affected laborers and community members have demanded immediate action from higher authorities against the official and accompanying staff.
