(Digital Itla) Khurram Shahzad, Advisor to the Ministry of Finance, stated that for the first time in history, Pakistan has repaid a debt of 4,722 billion PKR ahead of schedule.

In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), the Advisor to the Finance Ministry wrote that early debt repayment in the fiscal year 2026 reached 4,722 billion PKR, which is the largest and most consistent repayment in the country's history.

According to Khurram Shahzad, this is not just an early repayment of debt but also an effort to reduce risk and overall debt. The repayment will help lower debt servicing costs. He added that early debt repayment marks a fundamental shift toward greater economic stability.
