Mohsin Naqvi Should Begin Changing the System from His Own Ministry: Khawaja Asif

(Digital Itla) Defence Minister Khawaja Asif presented his detailed perspective on Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s statement regarding the "system's failure."

Writing on social media platform X, Khawaja Asif stated that Mohsin Naqvi expressed his views on the helplessness of the system, and that he personally largely agrees with those views, adding that "Naqvi Sahib himself is a powerhouse, Mashallah."

Khawaja Asif wrote that the evolutionary process of the system has been subject to group and personal interests for decades. As a political worker, he strongly feels that the system needs to be liberated. If the system is to be strengthened and fundamental change brought about, Parliament is the proper forum. Since Mohsin Naqvi is a member of Parliament, the matter can also be discussed in the Cabinet. This would strengthen these institutions and the system, bringing about change through a constitutional process.

"Respected Mohsin Naqvi is a highly esteemed cabinet member. He attends Parliament and Cabinet meetings occasionally. Making such a major statement while sidelining these institutions does not carry weight, in my view. The talk was delivered by inviting respected businessmen while bypassing the relevant forums. Raising such matters at relevant constitutional forums would earn appreciation instead."

The Defence Minister further noted that Mohsin Naqvi has held highly powerful positions in this setup for three and a half years and could have initiated or progressed system reforms during this time, though "better late than never."

He added that yesterday, the DG ISPR mentioned the 13 points of the National Action Plan. The single point that fell under the responsibility of the armed forces is being executed and completed through the sacrifice of lives. However, the remaining 12 points are the responsibility of the Ministry of Interior and remain unfulfilled. Mohsin Naqvi should begin changing the system from his own ministry by implementing the National Action Plan; if he starts with his own ministry, the respected business community and the entire nation will stand with him.
