Major Blow to Indian Airlines as Financial Crisis Deepens

According to international news agency FlightGlobal, Air India suffered a record loss of approximately $2.3 billion during the fiscal year ending March 31. Air India cited the closure of Pakistani airspace following the Pak-India conflict as a primary reason for the deficit. Rerouting western flights due to the airspace closure significantly raised operational expenses for Indian airlines.

Surging fuel costs and market volatility stemming from the US-Iran war have further compounded Air India's troubles. According to Indian aviation expert Subhash Goyal, the closure of Pakistani airspace affects between 400 and 500 Indian flights. India's foreign policy and flawed strategy have dragged its aviation sector into crisis.
